Light duty, digital read-out, timed-relay brake controller designed for use on single, tandem or tri-axle braking trailers. No level adjustment required. Automatic and manual braking.
The Engage is a digital time based controller and is the top-of-the-line time-based brake controller. This controller is equipped with a digital display allowing you to select adjustable voltage and power ramp up times.
The Engage can be mounted at any angle and in any direction, and is ideal for steep dashes that make typical units difficult to mount. It includes a mounting bracket and a standard four-wire hookup for quick and easy installation. It must be mounted in a location where the driver can see the Red Indicator Light. The driver must be able to reach and operate the manual slide.
During braking, the Engage operates on a time-based circuitry. The longer the brake pedal is depressed, the greater amount of current delivered to the trailer brakes. The “power ramp time” and power is adjustable to achieve trailer brake responsiveness. The digital display will indicate the amount of power being sent to the trailer brakes. Once the brake pedal is released, the unit will return to “stand by” mode. While in “stand by” mode, the controller will display the currently selected mode of display (% power, voltage, or current).
Under automatic braking (via brake pedal), the maximum power is the percent of available power that is sent to the trailer brakes. Under manual override (via manual slide lever), the maximum power is the percent available power that is sent to the trailer brakes when the manual slide lever is moved all the way to the left. Choose Automatic Maximum Power settings to use the factory pre-set of 50% Maximum Power, or adjust the settings to your preferred amount of braking power. Use the Manual Override slide lever to apply the trailer brakes independently of the tow vehicle brakes or to override the automatic trailer brakes when less braking is required. The Manual Override slide lever can be used for emergency stopping or for control of excessive trailer sway. The tow vehicle and trailer brake stoplights will still illuminate during the manual lever activation.
